In maths this week the year 4 class will be continuing place value with 4 digit numbers. We will be focusing on representing numbers up to 10,000, as well as partitioning and comparing numbers. This will support their learning when we begin addition and subtraction later this half term. If you wish to help your child to practise at home, please discuss real life examples of where we use larger numbers and how we can compare them. An example of this might be to compare the distance between countries in miles. This is a way to make the learning real and supports conceptual understanding.
In English this week we will be continuing Stone Age boy. Our particular focus will be paragraph structure and story composition.
