Our catchment area includes the villages of Barking, Great Bricett, Little Bricett, Ringshall, Willisham as well as Wattisham Airfield. About half of our children come from the Army base at Wattisham, and we find this enriches school life for all our children, broadening awareness of other places, cultures and languages. The sociable and welcoming atmosphere of the school is one of our strengths and all our children develop well as a result.
Ringshall School is a spacious building set in beautiful grounds. Saplings Nursery, for 3-4 year olds, and Cherry Reception class have adjoining, large, bright rooms. They have their own fenced outdoor area with a marked roadway, for riding wheeled vehicles. It is used as an outside learning area where children can play in sand, grow things, dress up, role play and do all sorts of other activities. Of course, they also share all the other facilities of the rest of the school.
Our other classrooms are also attractive, light and well equipped. We have a spacious hall, an ICT suite, two small group rooms, music/drama room, a separate dining hall and library. Our 1950s building has been well maintained and also extensively re-furbished for the 21st century and the changes it brings. Our excellent grounds include the best adventure playground in a Suffolk School!
We have an experienced staff with a variety of talents, and we all work well as a team. Our Governing Body is active, informed and supportive and the “Parents and Friends of Ringshall School” provide us with a variety of fund-raising and fun events.
The closer the co-operation between home and school, the more beneficial it is for children’s education. Parents are often invited to come into school for various activities and events. We have a Home/School Agreement written by parents and teachers, which sets out the commitment we each make. Standards at Ringshall are good and parents help us to maintain the standards and to aspire to greater things. We listen to the views of our children, parents and local community and find that this helps us to develop well as a school that meets the needs of all.
