Home School Agreement

How much home work will the children do?  In our home work policy we say that;-

Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage One) – 1 hour per week including reading time

Years 3 and 4 (Key Stage Two) – 1 ½ hours per week including reading time.

We encourage parents and carers to read to and with their children as regular reading, with parents and carers is vital to becoming a confident reader. We have a booklet for parents giving advice on reading with their child. The Government has suggested 10-20 minutes reading a day for all children of Primary School age which equates to 70 minutes a week (1hour 10mins.)

Homework at Ringshall School is given in the following way:

1. Regular reading of school and library books;
2. Practising words or phonics being learnt in school
3. Practising skills learnt in the classroom
4. Researching topics or themes
5. Puzzles and problem solving
6. Practical tasks such as making a model
7. Keeping a diary over a period of time

If you have any queries about your child’s homework please speak your child’s class teacher or come to our Tuesday afternoon drop in at 2.30pm.
